Installed in 2018, Sol LeWitt’s Nine Towers is a 5 meter high structure consisting of close to 4,000 white custom-made cinder blocks. The work is highly representative of his art, a sculpture, but created with architectural means and materials. A collonade and a temple that challenges the visitor both visually and physically, and which activates the beautiful surrounding landscape with great contrast and mathematical sharpness.
The American artist Sol LeWitt (1928-2007) is considered one of the most important in our contemporary art. His beautiful, minimalist sculptures are today permanently placed in the world’s finest sculpture parks, such as the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, Hirshhorn Scupture Garden in Washington, Zentrum Paul Klee in Bern and the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis. However, there has been no previous outdoor work of him in Scandinavia, until now, at the Kivik Art Centre. Nine Towers was designed and built under the supervision of Jeremy I. Zeemann at Studio Z, New York.
